Increasingly the band has become a catalyst for the performing arts in Marlborough, not only by incorporating dance and drama facilities within its own building, but also by providing opportunities for groups to participate in community events and productions initiated by the band.
Recent examples of these include the stage play "Brassed Off", and our A.N.Z.A.C. and Last Night of the Proms productions, as well as further innovations planned for September 2006 and in the future. It has also assisted other groups on tour, such as the Gwent Youth Band from Wales and the New Zealand National Youth Brass Band.
In summary, brass bands are an integral part of New Zealand Society and play an important role in defining our identy and we have been part of the Marlborough community since 1854. It is through this medium that we celebrate local, national and internation events as well as to mourn the departed and to reflect on tragic events in our history.
Concerts provide family entertainment often for a small charge or no expense to the public and communities at large. The band has enjoyed substantial Community and Council support over the years, and is proud
to be part of the Marlborough District and Blenheim, the Gourmet and Sunshine Capital of New Zealand.
I Trust this website will be a useful source of information and informed comment.
