Marlborough District Brass Band

Musical Director: Kevin Moseley

Kevin is a man of great passion. He strives to, and challenges all the members of the band to be the best that they can be.

His exacting standards and quest for perfection at times can be trying for others, but he has brought the band into the A grade (Marlborough District Brass Band (MDBB) is the only provincial band in the A grade), and keeps it well placed. He is well rewarded for all the work put in.

Another tribute to the band, and Kevin, is the number of out of town players that play for the band. Players that could easily play for any band, come to be part of the MDBB family.

Kevin's enthusiasm and commitment to music isn't just directed at the brass band, but to all musicians especially youth. He is actively part of the Board for the Marlborough Civic Theatre, and regularly invites talented musicians to play at concerts where the band is performing and can often be found either playing for, or conducting orchestras for Operatic shows.

Kevin was selected for the 2005 National Band which toured Europe and competed in Holland for the best band. The NZ band were placed 3rd overall.

Outside of music Kevin is a keen fisherman, family man and workaholic. Being a keen fisherman, Kevin is able to spin a yarn with the best of them. Kevin is legendary at telling stories and pulling practical jokes. Best we not go there as we could be quite some time.

Kevin was recently appointed as Music Director of the NZ Youth Brass Band for 2007 until 2009. The Marlborough and Banding communities congratulate Kevin on this appointment

The passion Kevin Moseley holds for brass bands has been identified in the New Year Honours list with the Queen's Service Medal. To read more about this on the features page click here.
